One more week...

One more week that is, til we're in Oklahoma for Christmas. Since I'm going to be seeing lots of family and friends soon, I thought I'd give just a quick recap of the last couple months. I have been on a blogging hiatus.

Gunnar is great. Quite the personality and little temper on the boy. He's been talking so much more since we took his pacifier away a couple months ago. I kind of felt like we were reenacting Castaway when Tom Hanks loses Wilson. But just a night and a nap later things were solved. Don't get me wrong, he still looked everywhere for it for at least a couple weeks. He was quite sad. I felt quite bad.

Gunnar likes to climb, spin in circles, throw the ball, have a bite of anyone's food, and pester his doggies (as he calls them). In fact, his first two words put together were "go away" which were intended for his doggies. Still likes his bath and LOVES the outdoors. He likes to take the wheel and honk the horn as we are parked in the driveway of course. He loves his great grandma's golf cart. He is convinced he is honking the horn as you lightly tap it with your brake foot. He is our JOY!

Jeremy has finished his Masters in Educational Leadership. His graduation is actually tomorrow evening. Gunnar and I are quite proud of him and this accomplishment. He has been very busy this past semester...I had gotten pretty use to the awesome teacher hours. No longer the case. I am looking forward to the week after Christmas being with my boys and my family for an entire week.

Jeremy's sister and family came to visit during Thanksgiving. Gunnar's two cousins, Ava and Hailey, were so wonderful with him. I'm pretty sure he was wandering why these girls were always in his face, wanting him to dance, wanting him to play, wanting him to watch a movie with them....they really love him. I wish we got to see them more often. When Jeremy and I had first started dating, I remember taking Ava outside to play. She was two. She just turned 7 on Dec. 10th.

The first offer on our house fell through. We started all over again just after Thanksgiving and have already received another offer. We're praying this will be the one, but the Lord sure is showing us patience during this process.

Here are a few pictures from the past month,

Growing up, oh so fast!

  • We put our house on the market.
  • Jeremy got a promotion to an administrative position at another high school in the district he was teaching.
  • We got an offer on our house!!!
Lately, most of our time after Gunnar has gone to bed has been dedicated to cleaning up the messes he easily seems to make when we get home for the evening. It has been a lot of work! Nice to have a spotless house...which is a rarity until lately! So please think and say a prayer for us with the current offer! We are very excited!

Our guy continues to keep us on our toes and is full of excitement. At his 15mo appt, he is right about 23 lbs and 31 inches. He is taking after his daddy in that he continually bumps his head a few times daily. Though, I'm not sure I can quite blame this all on his daddy as my own dad nicknamed me SB as a child. Stumble butt.

He is trying hard to say many things. My favorite word right now...outside. I don't think he could get any more excited about a word.

He loves to hide. It has become a routine after his bathtime. His favorite hiding place is right behind the rocking chair. Though usually he won't let us find him. He'll peek his little (who are I kidding...big but precious) head around and just laugh and then peek to the other side.

Loves to dance. Favorite song is easily the Hot Dog Dance on the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. He will run to the tv if he hears it in another room. Jeremy and I have quite easily mastered each of the characters dances. We would be happy to help you learn.

He is also still trying to master jumping. He gets down real low and then pops up. He hasn't quite got both feet off the ground yet though.

Clearly, we love HIM!

There's no place like home...

We have lots of pictures from our visit back to Oklahoma. Lots of fun and exciting events to celebrate and capture! It all started with my Dad celebrating his 60th and my good friend Natalie's little boy, Miles, celebrating his 1st. We had a day in the pool and fun times with family and friends barbequing. We were able to get to spend a lot of time with my family and friends. It's always so nice to come home. I feel like I miss so much now with all the little additions that keep coming. I love being able to spend just a fraction of time with them and being able to see all their little personalities. What I love the most is that Gunnar gets to play with them all.

Throughout the week we would meet Grammy most mornings while she was working. We went to the park and swam mostly, that is of course all happening very early since it was SO HOT! My friends, you know who I'm talking about, say AZ is SO HOT! But I will say that when we were in OK, it felt way more hot than in AZ right now. Maybe that will change in August, or September, or even October. It will still be quite hot in AZ then.

Thursday and Friday, Jeremy and I decided to get away for a few days in Dallas while Grammy took care of Gunnar. I think she enjoyed herself even more than we did. She is the best Grammy. She's always been that one person who has this "thing" with kids. Kids LOVE her. She doesn't really have to do anything, but kids just gravitate toward her. Since most of my childhood she had an in-home daycare I would I always see that, but seeing her with my baby is such an amazing feeling. She loves on him so much, and he loves her. She always says that maybe he remembers her so well since she spent so much time with him after he arrived. This makes me kind of sad to think that she actually thinks that at sometimes he doesn't remember her. She is too wonderful to not remember...that is what I pray she knows. He knows it.

On our couple day getaway, we played like kids at a water park, pampered ourselves with massages, went to the movies, shopped a little (Jeremy would probably say too much), and ate out for dinner each night. We enjoyed ourselves!

The weekend that followed us getting back from Dallas was a busy one. Sally's baby shower came first and I think was a great success. She got some good gear for her new little guy who's expected arrival is just about 6 weeks away! The next day we had Brooks' 1st birthday party. We had a blast at the big pool party with so many of our friends and their kiddos.

Monday night held one of the things I miss most about my Oklahoma. My friends. I have the most amazing friends. I love being able to chat about anything and everything with them. I felt a little spoiled on Monday...I wouldn't mind feeling spoiled a little more often by them.

Thank you Lord for you are so good.

Happy Birthday Miles and Knox!
